The Bahamas Striping Group of Companies is seeking a full-time, experienced Civil Engineer to be responsible for the supervision of the design, construction, and maintenance of civil works infrastructure projects of the company.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Reports to the General Manager
- Supervision of Consultants providing civil engineering design services, including producing drawings, specifications, tender, and contract documents for BSGC projects.
- Coordinates and/or prepares, reviews, and checking of engineering reports, studies, drawings, plans, and specifications,
- Supervision of new construction projects (i.e., ensuring compliance with contract documents, dealing with variations to the contract, measuring works undertaken, payment certificates, and monitoring the progress of the project).
- Attend meetings as required. Particularly those concerned with civil engineering matters.
- Keep abreast of modern developments in civil works construction, maintenance, and administration, carry out research as required, and submit proposals for improvement of the service.
- Liaise with the Civil Engineering Department of the Ministry of Works and Utilities, the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection, and any other relevant governing agency.
- Coordinates project development and operation with other outside parties or agencies.
- Provide assistance to the General Manager in the programming, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
CORE COMPETENCIES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & ATTRIBUTES:
- BSc in Civil Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineering in a Commonwealth Country or the U.S.A.
- Five years’ experience post Professional Engineer designation.
- Proven working experience as an engineer.
- Expert knowledge of infrastructure design, construction details, relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
- Excellent drawing skills and familiarity with design software (CIVILS 3D, AUTOCAD)
- Excellent Communication and project management skills
- Possess experience in all aspects of highway design and construction and transportation management.
